Terms of Use

Last updated: October 15, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Float Design LLC ("we", "us") governing your use of the Echoes app and the echoes.am service ("Echoes"). By using Echoes, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Echoes on Apple devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and to the Usage Rules in Apple's App Store Terms of Service.

The music

Echoes plays live recordings that artists permit fans to record and share, from the Internet Archive's Live Music Archive and Phish.in. The recordings belong to the performers, writers, and publishers of the music and to the people who taped them, not to us. Each recording shows its source, taper, transfer, and lineage details as provided by the archive. Reviews come from the Internet Archive and are shown with their authors' names; they belong to the people who wrote them. Echoes would not exist without the tapers, transferrers, uploaders, bands, and archivists who make this music available.

The recordings are for personal listening only. You may not sell them, use them commercially, or redistribute them in violation of an artist's trading policy. Downloads are for offline listening within the app. We make no guarantee about the copyright status of any recording.

When a recording is removed from its archive, it's removed from Echoes too. If you're an artist or rights holder and believe a recording shouldn't be available, contact us at the address below and we'll review it promptly.

Grateful Dead trading policy

As the Grateful Dead request of sites offering their music, we post their statement:

The Grateful Dead and our managing organizations have long encouraged the purely non-commercial exchange of music taped at our concerts and those of our individual members. That a new medium of distribution has arisen - digital audio files being traded over the Internet - does not change our policy in this regard. Our stipulations regarding digital distribution are merely extensions of those long-standing principles and they are as follow:

No commercial gain may be sought by websites offering digital files of our music, whether through advertising, exploiting databases compiled from their traffic, or any other means.

All participants in such digital exchange acknowledge and respect the copyrights of the performers, writers and publishers of the music.

This notice should be clearly posted on all sites engaged in this activity.

We reserve the ability to withdraw our sanction of non-commercial digital music should circumstances arise that compromise our ability to protect and steward the integrity of our work.

Artwork & images

Show artwork, such as ticket stubs and posters, is gathered from fan collections and public archives, including the Internet Archive and gdsets.com, to help you identify and browse shows. We don't claim ownership of this artwork. It belongs to the artists, designers, and photographers who created it. Venue illustrations are created by Echoes using map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, rendered with Protomaps.

If you created or own an image and would like it credited differently or removed, contact us at the address below and we'll take care of it promptly.

Your account

You're responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. Please give accurate information when you create an account, and choose a name and username that don't impersonate anyone else.

Your content

You own what you create in Echoes, such as playlists, collections, show notes, and your profile. You grant us a license to store and display that content as needed to run Echoes, including showing it to others when you make it public or share it. Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle your information.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

No warranty

Echoes is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that Echoes will be uninterrupted or error-free, that any particular recording will remain available, or that your data will never be lost.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Float Design LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of Echoes, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Termination

You can stop using Echoes at any time and delete your account from within the app. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue Echoes, in whole or in part, at any time.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised version at this address. Continuing to use Echoes after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
